Day 1: Nairobi – Sirimon Gate – Old Moses Camp (3,300m)
Pick up from Nairobi and drive to Nanyuki town for lunch, crossing the Equator along the way. Continue to Sirimon Park Gate at 2,660m where the trek begins. The trail passes through montane forest, bamboo, and giant heather vegetation before reaching the moorlands and Old Moses Camp at 3,300m. This gentle hike takes about 3–4 hours. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 2: Old Moses Camp – Shipton Camp (4,200m)
After breakfast, follow the trail uphill and turn right at the junction. Continue trekking past the Ontulili River before crossing Liki North River and ascending toward Mackinder’s Valley. Along the way you will enjoy impressive views of the surrounding peaks before arriving at Shipton Camp, located beneath the towering summits and glaciers of Mount Kenya. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 3: Shipton Camp – Acclimatization
Day Spend the day acclimatizing at Shipton Camp. Optional short hikes can be taken toward Oblong and Hausberg Tarns, gaining additional elevation before returning to camp for lunch. The afternoon is free to rest and enjoy the alpine scenery.
Day 4: Shipton Camp – Point Lenana (4,985m) – Mount Kenya Bandas (2,900m)
Begin the summit attempt at around 3:00 am to reach Point Lenana in time for sunrise. The climb follows rocky paths and scree slopes and takes approximately 3–4 hours. On clear mornings you may also see Mount Kilimanjaro on the horizon. After the summit, descend to Mintos Hut for breakfast before continuing down through the scenic Gorges Valley toward Mount Kenya Bandas. Enjoy views of the Temple, Lake Michaelson, mushroom-shaped rocks, and the Giant Billiards Table. Dinner and overnight at the bandas where hot showers, beds, and log fires are available.
Day 5: Mount Kenya Bandas – Chogoria – Nairobi
After breakfast, descend through bamboo forests and lush rainforest on a wide trail. Meet your vehicle for transfer to Chogoria town before continuing the journey back to Nairobi, arriving in the late afternoon.
