Day 1: Nairobi – Naro Moru
Pick up from your hotel in Nairobi and drive to Naro Moru, arriving in time for lunch. Spend the afternoon organizing your climbing gear and enjoy a short nature walk in preparation for the trek. Dinner and overnight at a mountain lodge or bunkhouse.
Day 2: Naro Moru – Met Station (3,000m)
Transfer to Naro Moru Park Gate for registration before beginning the hike at approximately 2,600m. The trail follows a scenic ridge between the Northern and Southern Naro Moru valleys. This section is relatively easy and passes through dense forest. Along the way you will enjoy views of the Northern Naro Moru Valley before reaching Met Station at 3,000m. Dinner and overnight at the station.
Day 3: Met Station – Mackinders Camp (4,200m)
Continue trekking uphill along the trail, passing a radio mast before leaving the forest zone and entering the moorlands. The route crosses the well-known vertical bog, where conditions may vary depending on rainfall. The trail eventually improves and leads to a viewpoint overlooking the Teleki Valley before reaching Mackinders Camp at 4,200m. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 4: Mackinders Camp – Point Lenana (4,985m) – Met Station
Start your summit attempt at around 2:00 am to reach Point Lenana by sunrise. The climb takes about 4 hours. After enjoying the breathtaking views from the summit, descend back to Mackinders Camp for breakfast. Later continue descending for approximately 4 hours to Met Station for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Met Station – Naro Moru – Nairobi
After breakfast, descend through the rainforest for approximately 9 km to Naro Moru Park Gate at 2,600m. Your vehicle will then transfer you back to Nairobi.
