Day 1: Nairobi – Meteorological Station (3,000m)
Depart from Nairobi and drive to the Naro Moru Park Gate where registration is completed and the hike begins at approximately 2,600m. The trail follows a well-defined path along a ridge between the Northern and Southern Naro Moru valleys. The hike is relatively easy and passes through beautiful forest scenery. About two-thirds of the way up, just after crossing a bridge, you will enjoy scenic views of the Northern Naro Moru Valley. The trek ends at the Meteorological Station at about 3,000m where dinner and overnight stay will be provided.
Day 2: Met Station – Mackinders Camp (4,200m)
After breakfast, continue trekking uphill along the trail. After about 30 minutes you will pass a radio mast on your right before joining a path leading further up the mountain. Within another 30 minutes you leave the forest zone and enter the moorland area. This section includes the well-known vertical bog, where conditions can vary depending on rainfall. Continue trekking as the trail gradually improves until you reach a junction overlooking the Teleki Valley. From here proceed to Mackinders Camp at 4,200m for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Mackinders Camp – Point Lenana
Met Station Your summit attempt begins early at around 2:00 am to allow arrival at Point Lenana in time for sunrise. The climb takes approximately 4 hours. After enjoying the sunrise and spectacular views, descend back to Mackinders Camp for breakfast. Later continue descending for about 4 hours to the Met Station where you will have dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Met Station – Nairobi
After breakfast, descend through the rainforest for approximately 9 km to the Naro Moru Park Gate at 2,600m. Upon arrival you will connect with your transport for the drive back to Nairobi.
