Day 1: Moshi – Lake Manyara National Park
Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Moshi to Lake Manyara National Park, which takes approximately four hours. Upon arrival, you will enjoy a picnic lunch before heading out for an afternoon game drive — one of the best times to spot wildlife in the park.
As you approach the park from the eastern side, the dramatic Rift Valley escarpment rises in thebackground, creating a spectacular setting for Lake Manyara. The park’s lush groundwater forest is home to playful monkeys swinging between tree branches, while elephants are often seen resting in the shade of acacia trees along the escarpment.
Wildlife frequently spotted in the park includes zebras, giraffes, impalas, buffaloes, hippos, and a variety of bird species. After the game drive, you will transfer to Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay at your campsite or lodge on a full board basis.
Day 2: Lake Manyara – Ngorongoro Crater – Moshi / Arusha
After breakfast, depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, located about 30 minutes from Karatu. From the crater rim, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape andthe Great Rift Valley.Ngorongoro Crater is known for having one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. It is also one of the best places in Tanzania to see the endangered black rhino. Other wildlife commonly found here includes lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, hyenas, antelope species,and numerous bird species, including flamingos around the crater lakes.After a memorable game drive inside the crater, you will return in the late afternoon to your hotel in Moshi for an overnight stay on a bed and breakfast basis, or you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport for your onward flight.
